During his 13 years at Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, he led and strategized major campaigns that generated contracts worth over $1.5 billion, with international customers and leading OEMs in the defense industry.

As Deputy GM of rafael's Land & Naval Division, he supervised and managed a multi-national portfolio of subsidiaries with revenues of ~$300 million. He was also responsible for the expansion of the portfolio, included initiation, execution and integration of Rafael's largest M&A investment (over £100 million) into the company.

Eitan Shabtay

Chief R&D and Engineering Officer

Over 30 years of gathered experience in a variety of R&D roles both in startups as well as in big organizations.

High capability and demonstrated experience in turning state of the art multidisciplinary products and system of systems, which are on the cutting edge of the technology, from the initiation stage and up to maturity of the serial production phase. Started his professional Career in 1991 in an elite technological unit of the IDF and served there for 15 years until 2006, where in his last role acted as the Deputy Commander of the Mechanical R&D Division. Acted as the VP R&D of Pulsar, a start[1]up company that developed a solution for Magnetic Pulse Welding (2006-2007). Held the position of VP R&D of IQwind, a start-up company in the clean-tech field, that developed a unique gearbox that enables to improve the efficiency of wind turbines (2008-2009). Acted as VP Programs of Plasan Sasa (2010-2011). As a senior R&D Manger in Elbit Systems led the development of multidisciplinary complex airborne commercial systems as well as a variety of electro-optical products and systems (2011-2019). In his last position, prior to joining Spear UAV, acted as the EVP for Engineering and Technology in TAT Technologies Group (2019-2023). Mr. Shabtay holds a B.Sc. In Mechanical Engineering (cum laude) from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (1991), M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tel-Aviv University, Israel (1997) and MBA (summa cum laude) from Ben-Gurion University, Israel (2000). You will be responsible to build and lead the company’s System Architecture as the company scales up and perform analytical as well as hands-on system engineering work along the way.
